What this criterion checks
Evaluates whether visual media content within the application includes audio descriptions that narrate important visual information for users who cannot see the video. Assesses whether prerecorded video content provides an audio track that describes key visual elements — such as actions, scene changes, on-screen text, and other visual content — that are not conveyed through the existing audio alone. Also checks whether an option to enable audio descriptions is available if they are not active by default. Corresponds to WCAG 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Level A).
How it's assessed
The agent navigates through the application following realistic user journeys, capturing screenshots at each step. Using AI-powered vision analysis, it identifies visual media content such as embedded videos and multimedia players. It checks whether video content includes an audio description track that narrates important visual information, and whether an option to enable audio descriptions is available if not active by default. The agent evaluates whether the audio description adequately covers key visual elements that are not conveyed through the existing audio.
